Fine Art Prints

When I create limited edition prints, I much prefer to keep the edition small and exclusive. The endless possible colour variations of a print allow me to experiment and so most of my prints normally end up as 'one offs', an original, an 'Artists’ proof (AP).

Monoprints

I love the spontaneity and the fluidity that a monoprint can have. There is also something gratifying in nurturing a print from manipulating ink on a glass surface to the end pulled print. I often overlay other techniques, such as screen printing, to give each one a unique quality.

Etchings

Etching can feel like practicing alchemy; from transforming a clean piece of metal into a worn and weathered aquatint etching plate,  through stages of submerging it in acid, to bite the darker printing areas. Or creating a drypoint etching, using only a metal needle, to draw into the plate, hatching and cross hatching to add the tone.

Whatever technique I use, the end print reflects the journey and the energy I have given the plate.

Image Transfer

Inspired by Rauschenberg, I do like to work from my original photographs and use this technique to create images that feel more fluid, and show where the chemical has actually dissolved the image, before it is transferred to another piece of paper. Again, each print is unique, one of a kind.
